We’re excited to announce the latest NITRO Studio releases, including updates across Workflows, Custom Actions, Forms, Alerts, List Search, Engage, Reports, List View, User Dashboard, NITRO Studio, and NITRO Database Sync.

These releases introduce new workflow and automation capabilities, expanded managed metadata support, improved large-list performance, enhanced document and email generation, new alert options, and several usability and administration improvements.

Key Highlights

NITRO Workflows Enhancements

New Switch Control

• Added a new Switch control that supports multiple conditional branches.
• The existing Gateway control continues to support two branches using if-else logic.

Expanded Column and Expression Support

• Added support for calculated columns and the read-only Version column in the expression builder.
• Added managed metadata support in conditions, mappings, and the expression builder.
• Added the new gettermproperty function to retrieve custom property values for managed metadata terms.

Document Generation Improvements

• Generate PDF documents from Excel and PowerPoint files.
• Added support for header and footer text when generating PDFs.

Additional Workflow Improvements

• Added placeholder support in content approval and check-in comments.
• Added support for setting document library file names using placeholders when adding list items.
• Site selection controls now display the server-relative URL along with the site title.
• Removed outdated messaging about a 3 MB Graph API email attachment limit.
• Fixed duplicate workflow execution when SharePoint generates a subsequent system update event after a document is added to a document library.

Custom Actions Updates

• Added support for calculated columns and the read-only Version column in the expression builder.
• Added the new Switch control with multiple conditional branches.
• Added managed metadata support in conditions, mappings, and the expression builder.
• Added the gettermproperty function for managed metadata terms.
• Added support for retrieving users from both SharePoint groups and individual users in multi-user columns using getspgroupmembers.
• Added support for picture libraries in the Create Item action.
• Fixed Send Mail issues when email templates have an empty body.
• Fixed expression formatting issues involving %% around functions.
• Query List action variables are now cleared when the action runs again, including when used with loops or gateways.

NITRO Forms Improvements

Managed Metadata

Expanded managed metadata support across NITRO Forms:

• Added managed metadata support in conditions and mappings.
• Added cascaded filtering based on parent column values.
• Added the ability to automatically fill managed metadata term custom properties into other columns.

Associated Items

• Added cross-site collection support for N-to-N relationships using NITRO-converted lookup columns.
• Added options to make uploaded document file names unique by adding a suffix.
• Users can now change the file name while uploading documents.
• Added support for displaying additional columns in Tiles with Preview views.
• Added an option to open associated items in a new browser tab.
• Added an OpenEditFormDelay setting to help prevent version conflicts after uploading pictures.
• Added a message when users attempt to save an item before associated items have finished loading.

Lookup Improvements

• Added advanced filtering options for lookup columns, including filtering by:
  • Scope
  • Content type
  • Parent folder
  • Document set
• Added the LookupDropDownHeight extended setting to control the height of lookup controls.
• Lookup search result dialogs now size based on the number of columns in the results grid.

Forms Designer & Usability

• Added drag-and-drop support for changing the execution order of Form Event Actions.
• Fixed issues with people picker selection in some cases.
• Fixed associated items not displaying older items when large list mode is enabled.
• Fixed lookup values being cleared in some cases when editing items with large numbers of lookup values.
• Added a message when a lookup list is no longer accessible.
• Fixed an issue preventing the NITRO user column settings dialog from opening.
• Fixed date values displaying as NaN-NaN when empty.
• Fixed the Replace It option appearing when document overwrite is disabled.

NITRO Alerts

Expanded Alert Capabilities

• Added support for alerts on document libraries.
• Added support for configuring alerts at the item and folder level.
• Added the ability to enable alerts across all sites in a tenant without installing NITRO Studio by using an alerts-specific solution.
• Added an option to enable or disable alerts directly from the UI.
• Fixed notification email issues involving the Created By user and file names.

List Search & NITRO List View

List Search

• NITRO Custom Actions can now be accessed directly from the edit control block in search results.
• Added multi-selection support so Custom Actions can be executed against multiple selected items.
• Fixed loading indicators remaining visible after search results were loaded.

NITRO List View

• Added predefined fixed row height options:
  • Compact
  • Normal
  • Comfortable
  • Spacious
• Added a Copy View Configuration button for duplicating existing view configurations.
• Added NITRO managed column support, including filtering and sorting.
• Fixed Color KPI issues when site-level variables with scripts were used in conditions.

NITRO Reports

• Added support for NITRO managed columns.
• Added support for filtering reports by tag using the FilterReportTag browser URL parameter.
• Fixed incorrect sum values in reports using large list mode.
• Fixed column drill-down filtering for multiple values in person or group, multi-lookup, and multi-choice columns.

NITRO Engage

• Added a SharePoint REST API option for the List View command.
• This enables querying multi-user columns through the List View command.

User Dashboard

Improved dashboard performance for large result sets through:

• Chunked queries
• Configurable row limits
• Improved task rendering
• Improved paging for large result sets

NITRO Studio & Platform Updates

GCC High Improvements

For GCC High NITRO Studio setup:

• Upgraded the platform to .NET 9.0.
• Added support for creating multiple Azure Functions and Azure AD Apps.
• Added certificate generation support.
• Improved error handling.

Administration & Access Control

• Added SharePoint group-based access control for NITRO app settings pages.
• By default, access remains available to users with Manage Website permission.
• Application settings can now be opened in a new browser tab by clicking the title in the grid.
• Added support for displaying the sender's name in the From address of Send Mail actions and emails sent by the app.

Large List & Document Improvements

Added support for rendering N-to-N relationships and large lists in:

• Print
• Generate Document
• Custom Action Send Mail
• NITRO Workflows Send Mail

Managed Metadata for NITRO Apps

• Enhanced managed metadata support across NITRO apps.
• Managed metadata can now be used instead of cross-site collection lookups.
• For SharePoint On-Premises host-named site collections, this is recommended due to browser restrictions when accessing cross-domain content.

NITRO Print

• Added support for rendering N-to-N relationships and large lists in list and item printing.

NITRO Link Tiles

• Added an Use Accessible Layout setting with table or list options to improve accessibility with Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA).

NITRO Database Sync

NITRO Database Sync includes several improvements to authentication, reliability, device synchronization, and data enrichment.

SharePoint Connection & Sync Reliability

• Added Azure Entra app authentication support for SharePoint connections.
• Added configurable default mapping values when the source is empty.
• Added a MaxRecords configuration to limit devices fetched during test runs.
• Added hash-based item update checking.
• Improved handling of interrupted synchronization.
• Added retries for SharePoint timeouts.
• Added configurable request timeouts.
• Improved handling of out-of-range date/time values.
• Improved logging and error handling.

Intune Device Sync

For each device, additional attributes can now be retrieved, including hardware information such as IPv4 addresses.

Additional capabilities include:

• Fetching devices based on Active Directory group membership of the device or assigned user.
• Configurable Graph API URLs for beta endpoints.
• GCC environment support.

Data Enrichment

Added an enrichment framework for mapping values from other sources, including:

• SharePoint list data to map device IP addresses to office locations.
• Device manufacturer and model to device type.
• Active Directory user attributes to device information.

Modern Branding

• Fixed an issue where the suite bar appeared when navigating to another page while the suite bar collapse option was enabled.

These releases continue to expand NITRO Studio’s workflow automation capabilities while improving managed metadata support, large-list performance, document generation, alerts, accessibility, administration, and integration with Microsoft 365 environments.
